The new graphic we introduced last week for Last Week in DemCast already feels dated. We believe — though please correct us if we are wrong — that an entire year has gone by in the past week.
Although it’s hard to remember, there were a few other issues people were talking about this week. As 2021 unfurled, our writers took a moment to look back and share their expectations and challenges for the new year ahead. Ahead of the certification of electoral college votes, a few of our authors were contemplating the impending actions of the Republicans with a wary eye. But the big event that captured our attention early in the week was the Senate runoff in Georgia, which quickly turned into a critical and resounding Democratic victory. We all deserve to take a few minutes to celebrate the wins of Rev. Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff.
Of course, events at the U.S. Capitol now dominate our media, our feeds and our conversations. To stay up to date on DemCast articles about the havoc Trump supporters set off on January 6, read Last Week in DemCast Capitol Edition.
