INDIVISIBLE VENTURA

Hello Ventura Indivisians!

In this dark, dark time in our Nation’s history, there is one bright spot that we must acknowledge. Like many of you, we sat in horror on Wednesday glued to our televisions as our Capitol fell to insurrectionists, we saw a split-second announcement that Jon Ossoff won his seat in the Senate. With Raphael Warnock winning the night before, the Senate flipped.

Sadly, we were robbed of the opportunity to celebrate this enormous achievement. But we should all take a moment to let it sink in and be grateful for the hard work it took to get it done.

After your calls to action – events and resources

Your Calls to Action:

Impeach Trump. Expel Cruz and Hawley (see more)
Action #1: We deserve a president who doesn’t threaten election officials, AND one who doesn’t incite insurrection.

Minimal script: I’m calling from [zip code] and I want Rep./Sen. [___] to know that Trump should be impeached (articles of impeachment) not once, but twice. Once because his call to Georgia’s Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger constituted an impeachable abuse of executive power, as well as a possible violation of GA state and federal laws. He should also be impeached for inciting a riot that threatened the safety of our elected officials in Congress, breaking his sworn oath to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution. Please ask Rep./Sen. [___] to ask President Trump to resign, effective immediately, or institute impeachment proceedings.

  • Rep. Julia Brownley: email(CA-26): DC (202) 225-5811, Oxnard (805) 379-1779, T.O. (805) 379-1779
  • or Rep. Salud Carbajal: email.(CA-24): DC (202) 225-3601, SB (805) 730-1710 SLO (805) 546-8348
  • Senator Feinstein: email, DC (202) 224-3841, LA (310) 914-7300, SF (415) 393-0707, SD (619) 231-9712, Fresno (559) 485-7430
  • and Senator Harrisemail, DC (202) 224-3553, LA (310) 231-4494, SAC (916) 448-2787, Fresno (559) 497-5109, SF (415) 981-9369, SD (619) 239-3884

Action #2: Trump didn’t do this damage by himself. He had help.
We deserve legislators who don’t manipulate fraudulent information for political gain or to incite insurrection.

We’ll be getting to the group of seditionists who refused to do their jobs, when Rep. Cory Bush finishes her resolution. (The Atlantic) “The “sedition caucus” includes at least 140 members of the House—that is, some two-thirds of the House GOP membership—and at least 10 members of the Senate. Their challenge comes after weeks of insistence that the 2020 election was rigged, plagued by fraud, and even subverted by foreign powers. The president and his minions have filed, and lost, scores of lawsuits that ranged from minor disputes over process to childlike, error-filled briefs full of bizarre assertions.

Right now however, we’re going to concentrate on the leaders of the pack, Senators and lawyers Ted Cruz and Josh Hawley.

Minimal script: I’m calling from [zip code] and I want Sen. [___] to immediately move to expel both Senators Ted Cruz and Josh Hawley from their midst. These men, both lawyers who clerked for SCOTUS justices, have no excuse for their venal decision to manipulate Trump’s lies for their own political gain, violating 8.4(c) -“The Dishonesty Rule.” of their professional code of ethics, and leading or encouraging others in refusing to perform the requirements of their office by objecting to validate certified election results. These men have proven themselves to be as amoral as Trump himself and no longer deserve a seat in the Senate.
