It’s hard to understand how any legislator who was at the Capitol on Jan. 6 could vote against an investigation of the events of that day, but Republicans consistently put their lust for power first. Last week some DemCast writers were focused on Congress, and what needed to be done to fix a broken institution. Adam Cohen shared an open letter to Sen. Joe Manchin about the filibuster and Hank Cetola discussed Rep. Tim Walberg’s dishonesty about the Biden agenda, while popular writer David Weissman created a petition calling for the expulsion of Rep. Marjorie Taylor Green. As of this writing David’s petition has over 207,000 signatures.

Please don’t miss Cheryle Johnson‘s unique look at the “Former Guy” and his deluded followers. In other news, Kimberly Yost wrote about the controversy that has risen over the teaching of critical race theory in American schools and Rabbi Moshe Tom Heyn called for diplomacy as the only solution to the conflict between Israel and Palestine.

DemCast is an advocacy-based 501(c)4 nonprofit. We have made the decision to build a media site free of outside influence. There are no ads. We do not get paid for clicks, but are sustained solely on donations from grassroots supporters. Because our revenue isn’t click-driven, we don’t take in any direct revenue from the creative contributions of grassroots activists who post on the site. This sets us apart from other media sites. And we’re proud of that.
