“Women are already showing up in large numbers, and they’re going to show up in masse to vote driving a blue Democratic tsunami.” – Michael Moore

Messaging experts advised framing the election as: “Americans believe that no matter what we look like or where we come from, for democracy to work for all of us, it must include us all. That means every voter must be able to cast our ballot freely, fairly and safely, and have it counted.”

We must inoculate against the false claims we know that Trump Republicans will make and dangerous actions we know that they will take to overthrow the will of the people before, on, and following election day.

Across our races, backgrounds, and parties, Americans value our freedoms – our freedom to vote, to elect who governs in our name, and to have an equal say in the decisions that impact our lives. But Trump Republicans are deliberately spreading false claims against our elections so they can turn us against each other, take away our freedoms, and get and hold onto power. We’re onto them. By joining together, we will protect our freedoms, decide our own futures, and ensure the will of the people prevails in our elections.

Research Collaborative (RC) advises frame the coming Blue Wave and the importance of counting every vote in the context of ‘freedom’. This infographic was designed with the free Infogram app with RC framing and GIFs from Into Action.

Across generations, races, and places, Americans have marched, organized, boycotted and voted to demand freedom for all to live as equals. Democrats are a force more powerful and turning out in record numbers to elect leaders who will #ProtectOurFreedoms and ensure we can decide our own futures.

Democracy is on the ballot

“Trump Republicans have proven they will do anything to get and hold onto power. Ahead of, during and in the aftermath of the midterm elections this November, we must make clear to voters what is at stake: our freedom to choose our own leaders in free and fair elections and have a say in the decisions that impact our lives. Their broader ongoing criminal conspiracy to overthrow our elections and take away our freedoms.”

Republicans stack the Supreme Court to ban abortions.

In America, we value our freedoms. Trump Republicans want to take away those freedoms – from controlling our bodies to eliminating Social Security to blocking everything our families need. And we’ve seen, when they lose elections, they lie about the results and lash out to try and overthrow the will of the people. Despite the deliberate barriers erected to keep Black, brown, young and new Americans from voting, we are turning out in record numbers to elect leaders who will protect our freedoms, allow us to provide for our families, and ensure that ‘we the people’ are the ones who decide who governs in our name.

Protect Our Elections

In America, voters pick our leaders. Our leaders should not pick which voters to hear and which to silence. But Trump Republicans are trying to get and hold power by taking away freedoms and handing kickbacks to corporations who gouge prices and dodge taxes. And we’ve seen, when they lose, they lie and lash out to try and overthrow elections. This November our freedoms are on the ballot: the freedom to decide if and when to have children, to have affordable health care and preserve Social Security, and to cast our votes in free and fair elections.

By electing leaders who will protect our freedoms to decide our own futures and demanding that election officials count every vote, we will ensure the will of the people prevails.

Countering Mass Voter Silencing

Most of us believe that voters pick our leaders, our leaders don’t pick their voters. But a handful of Trump Republicans running for office want to overthrow our elections so they can get and hold onto power. They pass laws taking away our freedom to vote, incite their supporters to intimidate poll workers, spread false claims to keep us from voting, and use mass voter silencing to cancel the votes of Americans who don’t look, live, or love like them.

If they think they can silence our voices – they’ve got another thing coming. We must expose their lies, turn out in record numbers, and demand that every vote is counted in order to protect our freedom to decide our own future and ensure that the will of the people prevails.

Contending with Violence and Intimidation

Americans no matter what we look like or where we come from, know that for democracy to work for all of us, every voter must be able to cast our ballot freely, fairly and safely, and have it counted. We believe deeply in the most basic freedom to decide for ourselves who governs in our name and condemn any efforts to silence or intimidate voters, whether through hateful speech, online threats or violent acts. Across race and place, we are coming together to condemn those who wield fear as a weapon to silence our voices.

Trump Republicans know that the vast majority of us want to be a place where all of our rights are respected and freedoms are protected. That’s why they incite violence and hope to keep Black, young, and new Americans from voting so they can claim and hold power to enact their unpopular agenda. We see through their lies and attempts to divide. And we will turn out in record numbers this year and demand that every vote is counted to fulfill our country’s promise of liberty and justice for all.
