We’ve got nine weeks to beat Trump. That’s it. If we lose in November, it’s not just four more years of misery. It means we lose the Supreme Court for 70 years. It means we likely lose our last chance to respond effectively to the climate crisis and the pandemic.
There are volunteers who are disrupting their lives and moving to PA for a few weeks to help out. We’ve got more and more people who are volunteering 10-20 or even 40-60 hours a week. We’ve got people working week in and week out raising money, which has allowed us to hire two new staff! We’ve got nine weeks left to stop Trump. Our question for you is: What are you going to do? Here are some options!
1. Get trained in deep canvassing and reach out to PA voters.
2. Volunteer in other ways: logistics, confirmation calls, data, fundraising…to learn more, email us.
3. And as always, the simplest thing you can do is to support our volunteers by giving here!
SAVE THE DATE for an online fundraiser featuring the hot new documentary “Boys State”!
On September 22, at 8pm, CTC will host a Zoom webinar with the directors and “star” of the film, which won the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance. We’ll show clips from “Boys State” and discuss how they made it. The filmmakers will also take questions and talk with CTC volunteers about the new energy young people of all stripes are bringing to electoral politics.
Mark your calendars, and watch your email inbox for a link to buy tickets. We anticipate a fun, informative, and inspiring evening!
Calling People You Know: A Volunteer’s Story
Jean Bresler writes, “Although I lived in Pittsburgh for about a year, when I was approached about joining the PYK team, I was reluctant. I told myself that the people I knew in Pittsburgh who were likely Biden voters would not benefit from a call from me. I also told myself that because I didn’t know any of them really well, the calls would be unwelcome intrusions. Both assumptions were wrong. Working with the PYK team, I learned a new approach to phone canvassing, and I learned how incredibly effective this type of canvasing could be. Read more.
CTC Welcomes Our New Interns
Please welcome Thaddeus Hill and Noah Bradley to the CTC team.
Thaddeus (top right) is a lifelong resident of Norristown, PA and a rising senior at Temple University, where he’s studying government and politics, policy and is helping lead the Black Law Students Association Pre-Law Division as he hopes to one day pursue a career in politics and law.
Noah (bottom right) is a native of Philladelphia, where he grew up in a civically-minded family, has worked with various civically-minded efforts, and helped build and lead a peer counseling group. He is taking a year off from Yale to work on our campaign.
Through the election, Thaddeus will be working about 25 hours a week and Noah will be working full time. They’ll be helping us recruit Pennsylvania-area activists and support local activities of the organization.
