Uniform

is it easier to break bones clad in
gear, shielded and unknown? is it
easier to swing the club and kick in
doors anonymous in uniform?

does agony seem
sterile behind a gas
mask? does a scream
go dull falling on an
earpiece?

the allure of power
imbalance that
emboldens and exudes a
vicious scent

knee on the neck boot
into shin baton against
bone eyes and lungs and
throat against tear gas
chest against the barrel
of a gun

on a rooftop at a distance finger
on the trigger do they appear
more dispensable surveyed
anonymous in uniform?
