Dear Friends,
The integrity of our democracy is at stake this November. Already, in primaries throughout the country we’ve seen long lines and confusion at polling places, which may be a dystopian preview for what’s to come.
But state lawmakers have a chance to change this reality by pushing for safe and effective voting this November — and state lawmakers are the only policymakers who can create lasting change with laws to make voting better not only this November but in every election in every state. And Future Now is there to help.
For months, Future Now has been working with lawmakers across the country to promote safer and more effective elections and has developed model legislation to promote Mail-First Voting — pre-paid mail ballot options, accessible in-person polling locations, and more.
The COVID-19 pandemic has shown that our current voting systems can’t keep us safe or ensure every ballot is submitted and counted. It should be the catalyst for strengthening our democracy — not cynical partisan attempts to suppress votes.
From Arizona to Wisconsin, from Michigan to New Hampshire, Future Now has been working with lawmakers taking action to support safe and accessible voting but every state must act.
The work Future Now does to shape policy sets us apart. Future Now Fund works to elect candidates who are committed to improving lives. Future Now is there to help them govern and to do just that, improve lives for all Americans.
To save our democracy, the way for forward is clear. It starts in the states.
Onward,
Lauren
