Fighting for All Workers
While the Republican Senate candidates were busy fighting with each other, Senator Sherrod Brown has been busy actually working for Ohioans.
You may remember when Senator Brown and his pal Cookie Monster chatted about shrinkflation. It turns out Cookie Monster may be something of a political influencer. This week, our Senator introduced a bill to tackle shrinkflation, cracking down on companies for quietly shrinking the size of their products and charging more.
The Senator also introduced a bill that would expand the rights of all VA health care workers and announced almost $20 billion in federal grants and loans on its way to Intel to support work happening in Central Ohio.
Thanks, Senator Brown! Keep up the good work.
Gone for Good?
Former house speaker and federal criminal Larry Householder was indicted on 10 state felony charges this week. Householder is already serving a 20 year sentence for federal racketeering after orchestrating a $60 million bribery scheme.
Of the 10 new charges, one of them would ban Householder from holding public office in the future. This is probably a good thing considering he left the Statehouse in 2004 after he and his campaign staff were investigated for money laundering.
Householder realizing that he won’t be able to get out of prison and run for public office again:
While AG Yost continues to bring down rulings on Householder and other actors in the scandal, let’s not forget that all statewide Republicans, including Dave Yost, are implicated in the bribery scheme.
Bernie is Lying…Again
During the primary we became accustomed to calling Bernie Moreno “Millionaire Moreno”, but we may need to think up a new nickname. As it turns out, Moreno has a tendency to lie about everything from his shady business dealings to his personal background.
Misinformation Moreno has long claimed that he built his car dealership business all on his own, going out of his way to say he did it without “handouts”. In actuality, Moreno received an insider deal on his first dealership. So I guess Moreno has benefited from the exact kind of benefits he claims to dislike.
This week, Moreno’s claims that his family left Colombia in 1971 to “escape socialism” are being called historically inaccurate.
There are so many lies that Moreno can’t even keep them straight. In January, his campaign released a digital ad in which he said, “President Trump says the election was stolen, and he’s right.” Now, post-primary Moreno refuses to answer the question: was the 2020 election stolen?
If being a liar wasn’t enough, it turns out Moreno is a graduate of…..MICHIGAN.

Until Next Time
2023 was a monumental and hopeful chapter of Ohio’s story that deserves much celebration. But it’s time to turn our focus to 2024. Redistricting and wage are on the line. Control of the U.S. Senate and U.S. House will undoubtedly run through Ohio in 2024. Ohio will also be the only state in the nation with an opportunity to gain control of the state Supreme Court. With two statewide wins under our belt, Ohio Dems are ready to win – again. Consider chipping in to help us win in 2024 and beyond!
