Give Smart: Special Election in 6 Weeks

2 mins read

The first critical election of the Biden era is coming. A Maine special election on March 9 in a swingy State Senate district that Trump lost by 1% in 2020 after winning it by 2% in 2016. This one is going to be close.

Thankfully we have an amazing candidate to support in Craig Hickman. Craig has been a tireless advocate in the State House for ending childhood hunger, promoting clean energy and protecting workers and now he’s trying to bring his lawmaking talent to the Senate.

Craig would also be the only Black member of the Maine Senate and the first ever LGBTQ+ Black Maine State Senator.

The election is coming up on March 9 and we expect the radical right to pull out all the stops in an attempt to get their first big win since the January 6 insurrectionWe need to hold this seat. 2022 may well be tough and if we keep this seat a hold, instead of a flip, maintaining chamber control will be that much easier. As always, it’s the governing majority that we need to help achieve America’s Goals and improve lives. This seat is key to that majority. Notably, 100% of your donations here will go directly to Craig’s campaign so he can make sure everyone in the district knows his record and what’s at stake in this election.

As you know, your donations go furthest in state legislative elections. And this district is one of the closest in the country. So once again, thank you for Giving Smart!
