This past weekend, our Safety-First Canvass was back in action with a new decentralized pod system designed for maximal efficiency and safety! We are proud to say that we had 157 canvassers in 34 pods, who spoke to 1,380 voters in North Philadelphia and made over voting plans with 745 of them.
Analysts are projecting that Pennsylvania will decide the election, and despite the national polls, it still may be very close in Pennsylvania. Indeed, the state will likely be decided based on the turnout of the kinds of neighborhoods in which we are canvassing. And we are the only campaign we’ve seen in working these neighborhoods.
So it is exciting to see how many voting plans we are able to make with voters, some who are voting for the first time! We just added more than 700 votes for Biden in one weekend. This work gives us hope!
Want to support our Get Out the Vote actions to help flip Pennsylvania? Here’s what you do:
- As soon as you can, sign up for a Get Out the Vote training on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Friday.
- Sign up for one of the Safety-First canvasses.
- Read our Letter of Agreement, sign it, and make plans to get your Covid test!
Can’t come to Pennsylvania or don’t want to canvass? We need your help too! Email email@example.com and we’ll help you figure out how to get involved.
And don’t let the need for transportation get in your way. If you need help getting to Philadephia, let us know soon and we’ll do whatever we can to help get you here. We might even be able to put you up overnight!
CTC volunteer Alan Chan shared these thoughts with us:
“When I go door-to-door canvassing, it’s like I have a superpower. It’s so easy to be discouraged during this time of hardship, but I know I’m doing a service by being vulnerable at a time when it’s hardest to do so. To connect voters with their own strength, and giving them the tools to save America, is a privilege I wish everyone can experience. Everyone is hoping and wishing #decency will prevail, but this is how we actually rise up. This is where we need to win the most to get enough electoral college votes to stop Trump.”
You’ve heard us say it before–nothing is as effective as in-person conversations. And now that we’re focussed on getting out the vote, our message is clear and the rewards are tangible. You can be personally responsible for helping Biden voters make voting plans.
These comprehensive trainings are required for every returning canvasser as well as newcomers, since we are covering new information.

PHONE CANVASSING CONTINUES!
Another effective way to engage voters is through our already existing relationships. Whether it’s reaching out to Pennsylvanians we think are at risk of not voting, or at risk of not being registered to vote by mail, or even just at risk of not using their own networks of relationships, reaching out to people we know is another proven way to make an impact. Do you know anyone in Pennsylvania – even one person? Join us to use Deep Canvassing to reach the people we’re most connected to and make sure they vote this November!
NOTE: While the Calling Infrequent Voters Phone Bank continues under the leadership of dedicated volunteers, we are only able to absorb past volunteers who have already been trained in deep canvassing by phone. If you fit that description, please sign up on our Events page.
Want to help us stop Trump but not sure if deep canvassing is a fit for you? CTC is searching for volunteers to help us with other aspects of our operation, including technical and logistical, both virtually and on the ground. Sign up for a one-on-one call today to learn more!
