Blue Monday: How to win Wisconsin

Meet us at the (virtual) Hideout for this week’s electronically distanced happy hour and political salon. Our guests will be Ben Wikler, the dynamic chair of WISDems, and Christine Neumann-Ortiz, executive director of Voces de la Frontera, “the most valuable grassroots organization in the U.S.” (according to The Nation). They’ll tell us what we need to do to win Wisconsin. Because if we win there, we win it all. 8-9 PM at the Hideout Online. Ceremonies will be mastered by Tom Moss, producer and star of the Indivisible Chicago Podcast, and our own Marj Halperin. Leave a tip for our Hideout comrades!

Phone Banks for Every Schedule

On Monday afternoons we call registered voters in Michigan. Tuesday afternoons we call unregistered voters in Michigan. Tuesday evenings we call for Lauren Underwood. Wednesday evenings we call Wisconsin. Thursday afternoons we call our fellow Indivisible Chicagoans to recruit them for Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. Soon we’ll be calling on weekends to promote the Fair Tax here in Illinois. If that schedule doesn’t suit you, we can arrange for you to call on your own time. And if you don’t know how, we’ll train you. Come on! Like Ben Wikler says, every call counts.

Help us register new voters in Michigan and Wisconsin

We often hear from volunteers who want to focus on registering new voters. So we’re happy to announce we have partnered with Rust Belt Rising in an innovative registration program targeting our battleground states of Michigan and Wisconsin.

The program sends ballot applications and instructional flyers to people who have recently moved or are otherwise considered good prospects to register. The mail is followed up by phone calls and text messages—which is where we come in. In the recent midterms this technique registered 166,000 voters in Texas—about five times the margin we lost Michigan and Wisconsin by in 2016.

Indivisible Chicago is phone banking for this campaign on Tuesday, August 24, 1:30-3:30 PM. Learn more and sign up here. The campaign holds phone banks six days a week and text banks every Wednesday. Look here for all their registration events

Get a room!

Would you like to phone bank with your club or organization? Or with a group of friends, coworkers, or neighbors? Our new Club Room program is for you. We’ll give you a breakout room where you can gather beforehand and debrief after. We’ll train your people and stay with them to solve problems and answer questions. If you make it happen, we’ll make it easy. Go here to get started
