Voting is a fundamental right for all citizens. But not all citizens can exercise that right.
Lean Left Vermont is teaming up with Vermonters around the state for a series of showings of Suppressed: The Fight to Vote. Suppresseddocuments how massive voter suppression in the 2018 midterm election sabotaged Stacey Abrams’ run to become the first black female governor in the U.S.
This brief film is powerful, energizing, infuriating, and motivating all at once—you won’t want to miss it. Many hosts will include a discussion that ends with a list of concrete actions viewers can take with Lean Left Vermont, actions that will protect the right to vote and promote free and fair elections, especially in voter suppression states.
The film and discussion are free and open to the public, but donations are encouraged. All proceeds will benefit Fair Fight 2020, founded by Stacey Abrams. Fair Fight is building voter protection teams in 20 key states across the country.
