To save Democracy, we need to win in November. In order to win, we need people to register and vote! This week’s Friday Power Lunch will focus on different angles to register voters. We’ll discuss finding the elusive unregistered voters, registering high school seniors, the importance of following up with newly registered voters, and using a new app, Activote that engages with people to vote.

VOTER REGISTRATION TOOLS – TACTICS – ENGAGEMENT

Susan Labandibar (Co-Lead, Swing Blue Alliance) and Andy Liebman (Co-coordinator, Unregistered Voters Data Project) will discuss Swing Blue Alliance’s groundbreaking Unregistered Voter Data Project currently being tested in Arizona.

Laura Brill (The Civics Center) will talk about youth voter registration and their program for high school seniors, “Cap, Gown & Ballot”.

Debra Taylor (Red2Blue) will share how they serve as a back-office for organizations that register new voters by calling them one month after registration to assure successful completion of the application and then a GOTV call before the election. Voicemail messages are left for those who do not answer and calls are followed by a text message.

Andrea Miller (Center for Common Ground) will talk about registering people of color to vote and the new voter engagement tool ActiVote – Check it out below..

The decisive decade? Mapping key trends among adolescents and young adults in the US

This event offered by the Brookings Institute will open with a summary presentation of a new report, “The Decisive Decade: Understanding the Trajectories of 14- to 24-year-olds,” by Richard Reeves, president of the American Institute for Boys and Men, and Ember Smith, doctoral student, UC Berkeley. “The Decisive Decade” draws on rich datasets to describe recent key trends and trajectories for adolescents and young adults in education, employment, and family life. This will be followed by a presentation on subjective well-being from Lara B. Aknin, professor of psychology at Simon Fraser University and co-author of the recently published “World Happiness Report 2024,” which shows that young people ages 15–24 are less happy than older people in the U.S.

  • Friday National Postcard Palooza – Join postcard writers from across the country for the first NATIONAL POSTCARD PALOOZA in the Aviary room. We’ll be strategizing, crafting, and networking all afternoon and into the evening.
  • Friday Night Meet Up – Come to the Wren Bar or rooftop Perch at The Watermark Hotel (next door to the Capital One Hall) for a casual mix, mingle and meet up with other activists, candidates, and elected for a rousing welcome to kick off a spectacular Summit.

SATURDAY (6/29) – Main Event

  • Networking Hall – Capital One Hall doors open at 9 AM. The Networking Hall will be a buzz with leading organizations and interactive exhibits to expand your community and get into action on the issues.   • Main Stage – Get energized with keynote speakers and engaging panel discussions on the main stage.

BADASS Broadway Saturday Evening Bash – ROAR into your evening with a ferocious line-up of badass speakers, musicians, artists, and activists to get fired up to fight for our freedom through song, dance, and storytelling.
