Glen Miller – Michigan – State House District 50

Tell us a little bit about yourself and your background.

I own a remodeling business. My district in Livingston County is very conservative, yet I believe that the Democratic agenda does more to address the needs of the people who live here.

Why are you running for office?

It’s important to fix Michigan’s roads, expand broadband to give everyone access, and prioritize clean water and air in our state. As a representative, I would fight for legislation that addresses these issues.

What are the 3 biggest issues facing your community?

  1. Lack of broadband
  2. No trade schools
  3. Poor roads

How do you propose to solve those problems?

Governor Whitmer has proposed legislation to tackle these issues. I would support her efforts to implement her Building Michigan Together Plan, which dedicates resources to expanding broadband. I endorse her proposed budget which includes funding for vocational schools and “fixing the damn roads.” I support her plan to use a combination of federal and state funds to provide Michigan with a path forward on the challenges facing our residents.

What is your stance on environmental and climate concerns that are facing your community?

We are running out of time to fix the environment. PFAS (per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances) in our streams and lakes is the most pressing environmental concern facing our community. As a representative, I would fight to hold polluters accountable.

What commonsense gun safety measures would have the most impact on your community?

I endorse background checks as a means to prevent anyone with a history of mental illness from purchasing a gun.

How would you work to protect a woman’s reproductive health?

I believe that every woman has a right to make decisions about her own body. I will defend legislation that protects the right to choose.

What measures would you advocate to ensure that your constituents have the right to vote?

I will work with our Secretary of State to make sure voting is available and convenient for all citizens in our state. One of the biggest reasons that I am running is to put an end to voter suppression legislation that is based on lies. Republicans in this state are trying to end democracy as we know it and we need to fight back.
