I am writing in regard to media networks giving John Bolton, former U.S. national security adviser, airtime. As a veteran who took an oath to defend the United States Constitution, I request that this stops immediately for the following reasons.
John Bolton took a similar oath of office to defend the Constitution, and he had the chance to do so when Trump was being impeached the first time. There was plenty of evidence for removal, but did Bolton seize the day? No, he decided to hold back what he knew and instead share his knowledge when it would help sell his book. That right there should cost anyone airtime. Because when they care more about making money than the rule of law, we know that they do not have the country’s best interest at heart.
For every action, there is a consequence. I think about this a lot. Imagine where we would be as a country if John Bolton had taken his oath seriously. Trump would have been removed through impeachment prior to COVID. We would definitely have fewer COVID deaths than we do now. We would possibly be back to regular life. I don’t believe that Mike Pence, who would have become president, would have negotiated that deal with the Taliban, leaving President Joe Biden with an even bigger mess to clean up in Afghanistan. And the insurrection at the Capitol on Jan. 6 wouldn’t have happened because there would be no Big Lie spread about the 2020 election results.
Our country would be in much better shape and not as divided if only Bolton had done the right thing by testifying before Congress and helping to remove Trump from office.
Bolton has blood on his hands. He cares about profit over the country and our democracy, and for this reason, I request that the media no longer give him any airtime.
