My newly placed “Stop the Recall” sign was ripped in half and left on my front yard. It’s a crime to do such a thing. Lawlessness and race-baiting, like fake ballot boxes and hydroxychloroquine COVID cures, will not help California.
A very vocal and well-funded minority of discontents is raging to get the duly elected California governor recalled and replaced. They claim Gavin Newsom is responsible for everything wrong with how their lives are going.
Top complaints are that businesses are closing, people are leaving, and we lost a congressional seat (we have 53). Recall supporters claim that a lost seat will mean a tragic loss of federal influence. Well if that was a problem then why did these same recall supporters line up to repress the census reporting of all people residing in California?
Recall proponents correctly point out that businesses have been hurt by the pandemic. California has had 39% of its businesses close. The national average is 40%. California is not exceptional in this regard except, unlike most states, California has provided business tax breaks, $125 billion in business loans and secured $30 billion in business federal relief. California will bounce back and new businesses will open.
The governor is not standing in the way of a safe and prosperous recovery. The recall is. This recall has been orchestrated by out-of-state financing and lauded by an endless list of want-to-be psychocelebrity politicos.
Stop the recall. Find your ballot in the mail and vote no by Sept. 14.
