Speak to the Senate

Save the Date: July 10
Rally for Election Protection

Used to be that politicians would ask for our votes. Now they just help themselves. In state legislatures across the country, Republicans are trying to keep their jobs by attacking the very foundation of our democracy: free and fair elections. If we don’t stop them while we still have a chance, they will take us down the road to authoritarianism. (You can look it up.)

Starting Friday, both houses of congress will be on recess until July 10. Lawmakers will go home to find that the policies they cannot agree on—infrastructure, child care, the minimum wage, voting rights, and much more—are overwhelmingly popular with their voters. Before they return to DC, we need to put on the pressure. It’s not an exaggeration to call the next few weeks a Deadline for Democracy.

Indivisible chapters across the country are staging rallies, actions, and demonstrations to insist that our representatives vote For the People. Our Chicago event will begin 1 PM on Saturday, July 10, at Logan Square Park.

Climate, gun safety, immigration, wages, health care—it’s all on the line this month. Please plan to join us and remind congress what we hired them to do.  More info is here and more is coming. Watch your inbox and visit our Facebook group for details as speakers, activities, and partners are announced.

Join our Wednesday Phone Banks

Another way to bring the pressure is our Indivisible Chicago/Common Cause Wednesday Phone Bank. We call progressive people in key states such as West Virginia, Arizona, and Nevada. We patch them through to their senator’s office so they can urge support of the For the People Act no matter what it takes. These phone banks attract volunteers from all over the country because they offer the training, support, and camaraderie that Indivisible Chicago has become known for. Join us today 3-5 PM or next Wednesday 5-7. Sign up here.
