The South Carolina Democratic Party will hold its state convention virtually this week. This event will be a thrilling virtual gathering of dedicated Democrats from across the Palmetto State. RATEPAYER PROTECTION ACT
The South Carolina State Senate has introduced S-0344 to enact the “Ratepayer Protection Act.” This bill seeks to tackle the relevant issue of public utilities raising rates, such as for gas, heat, water, etc., during a declared state of emergency. The bill summary reads that it would “require the Public Service Commission to suspend the process by which a public utility seeks a change in rate, roll, rental, charge, or classification during a declared state of emergency.” This bill has bipartisan sponsorship and is currently being considered in committee. Please contact your State Senators and use social media to express support for this important change that can help South Carolinians during the most difficult times.

SCDP: READY TO RUN FOR OFFICE?
If you are interested in making a difference in your community, please take time to consider running for office. The South Carolina Democratic Party has put out a form for individuals to express interest in running. You may think that it is too early to start thinking about this, but electoral success will require carefully laid out plans, which in turn require time. You can access the link via the button below.
