DemCast USA has joined with Common Cause and other progressive organizations in calling on the Senate to quickly confirm President Biden’s three nominees to the USPS Board of Governors. Only the Board has the authority to fire the Postmaster General, and once these new members are seated, they must take action immediately. Please help support this effort to fire Postmaster General Louis DeJoy by signing this petition.
When DeJoy was appointed by the former president, he immediately began to make changes, under the guise of cost containment, that slowed down mail deliveries and threatened the ability of Americans to vote by mail. He imposed outrageous restrictions on postal workers, removed mailboxes by the truckload, ordered the removal of high-speed mail sorting machines and more.
Thanks to lawsuits from voting rights groups, many of these dangerous directives were reversed by courts, but DeJoy just unveiled a 10-year plan for the USPS that would further slow down first-class mail delivery, reduce post office hours, and raise postage prices.
It is vital that we have a well-run postal service that can safely and efficiently deliver paychecks, life-saving medications, letters from loved ones, and more. With Louis DeJoy at the helm of the USPS, postal service will only continue to get worse.
