The Week That Was

1.6.21 Attacks

Introducing a new feature here at DemCast. Every Saturday we will feature images that sum up the week as our artists, writers and editors experienced it.

Our debut graphic, created by our Art Director Julie Frontera, encompasses images reaching back more than simply seven days — to January 5. We didn’t even have time to celebrate the results of the Georgia Senate runoff before rightwing militants launched the 1.6.21 Attacks on our Capitol. It seems that the two weeks between that moment and the Biden-Harris Inauguration will forever be thought of as one immeasurable span of time.

Be sure to check back next week for what we expect will be far more uplifting pictures, those highlighting the victory belonging to the Americans who worked tirelessly to win the election for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris and the people of this country. United, we can finally realize the promise of our flag: true liberty and justice for ALL.

DemCast is an advocacy-based 501(c)4 nonprofit. We have made the decision to build a media site free of outside influence. There are no ads. We do not get paid for clicks, but are sustained solely on donations from grassroots supporters. Because our revenue isn’t click-driven, we don’t take in any direct revenue from the creative contributions of grassroots activists who post on the site. This sets us apart from other media sites. And we’re proud of that.
