White Supremacy and Representative McCaul

According to a brand-new Department of Homeland Security report, white supremacists present the gravest terror threat to the United States.

Let’s talk about Representative Michael McCaul’s deep history of downplaying the rise of right-wing domestic terrorism for over a decade.

In 2009, McCaul worked to bury a DHS/FBI report detailing the rise of white nationalists infiltrating law enforcement. He said the report “politicized” national security when it was he and his fellow Republicans that were doing the politicizing.

Due to the backlash by McCaul and other Republicans, DHS retracted the report and dismantled its team tasked with combating right-wing extremism.

When violent white nationalists and Neo-Nazis rallied in Charlottesville chanting “Jews will not replace us!” resulting in the murder of Heather Heyer, McCaul pushed back on calls for hearings on white supremacy extremists.

Let’s not forget, McCaul is also deeply complicit in the cover-up of the most heinous incident of racist law enforcement in modern Texas history, an incident that the ACLU called “the ethnic cleansing of young male Blacks from Tulia.” In this incident, which occurred in July of 1999, nearly 33% of the Black males in Tulia were arrested.

When someone shows you who they are, believe them.
