Blue Monday: Three states, three reporters
Once again tonight we’ll gather at the virtual Hideout for Blue Monday #2, an evening of inside politics emceed by Tom Moss, producer and host of the Indivisible Chicago Podcast, and our own Marj Halperin. Their guests tonight will serve up the political dish from the three states that represent our one mission: our old friend Shia Kapos, creator of the indispensable Politico Illinois Playbook; Malachi Barrett, public interest reporter at MLive, Michigan’s statewide news source; and Dan Simmons, a Wisconsin-based reporter who writes for the Washington Post and Milwaukee Magazine, among others. We’ll also have music from Michael McDermott. For a reasonable facsimile of the Blue Beginning experience, we suggest you chill a beer or two, grab a bag of unhealthy snacks, and join us at the virtual Hideout, 8-9 PM.
We have the phone banks
On Monday afternoons we call for Democratic candidates in Michigan, one of our crucial swing states.
On Tuesdays we call into the IL14th congressional district, where Lauren Underwood is fighting to hold her seat against a milk-fed fatcat and truckloads of Republican dark money.
On Wednesdays we call Wisconsin to support Democrats and undo the nation’s most shameless partisan gerrymandering.
On Thursdays we call our fellow Indivisible Chicagoans to get their help calling on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays.
And if none of those suits you, we’ll set you up to call on your own schedule.
Never phone banked before? We have that covered too, with our popular half-hour training class every Monday and Wednesday.
Phone banking is the most important thing we can do to win in November. You do want to win in November, right?
Over the next couple weeks we need to reach out to Blue Beginning members to recruit them for the work ahead. We could use some help phoning and texting them. If you can volunteer, please send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
