Friends – The last special election before Trump is back on the ballot is finally here.
Next Tuesday, Democrat Spencer Wetmore is facing a challenge to flip a GOP-held seat in ruby-red South Carolina – and she’s the real deal.
Spencer has dedicated her life to public service. After going to law school, Spencer came back to her home state and served as a former prosecutor before becoming Folly Beach’s City Administrator. Day-in and day-out, Spencer listens and solves the problems her community faces – unlike the GOP legislators who simply toe the Trump line.
The nation needs dedicated leaders like Spencer, now more than ever. But with her special election coming up in just a matter of days, we need to have her back.
South Carolina needs dedicated leaders working to bring change – not ones who’ll cower to Donald Trump.
In the state capitol, Republican lawmakers have rejected plans to give teachers a meaningful pay raise and expand Medicaid to more than 300,000 South Carolinians desperately needing health coverage.
And in Congress, South Carolina’s Lindsey Graham has fast-tracked Trump’s right-wing agenda – helping Trump rig his own impeachment trial and giving Brett Kavanaugh a lifetime appointment to the Supreme Court.
Winning special elections like these will prove that we can make Republicans PAY for putting politics before people. That starts with helping Spencer win her special election, but we only have a few days left to make our move.
