As coronavirus surged in March, Republicans refused to delay a PA House of Representatives special election in battleground Bucks County, northeast of Philadelphia.
Voters were forced to choose between risking their lives voting in person or staying home, and Democrat Howie Hayes (HD18) lost his race.
Howie Hayes is running again in November. It’s a winnable Obama/Clinton district, and we won’t let Republicans steal this race again.
Once a Republican stronghold, Bucks is trending blue: last year, Turn PA Blue helped flip the Bucks County Commission. Today, we’re highlighting Howie and 3 other Bucks County red-to-blue candidates as we fight to FLIP the PA General Assembly.

Meet the 4 Bucks County candidates we’re highlighting today:
Marlene Katz (PA-HD29) is an ordained interfaith minister working to end gun violence. She’s running against a vulnerable first-term Republican in Bucks County.
Ann Marie Mitchell (PA-HD178) is a Bucks County business attorney and mother. Her opponent won re-election in 2018 by just 572 votes. Chip in to Ann Marie’s campaign.
Gary Spillane (PA-HD144) is taking on a Republican that was re-elected by just 590 votes. As a small businessman, Gary says, “Providing healthcare and paying a living wage to my employees wasn’t just good business, it was the right thing to do.”
Howie Hayes (PA-HD18) worked for decades as a union plumber. He’ll fight for workers and a living wage.
