July 23 newsletter: Vote For Democrats in August

/
9 mins read

Dear Friends –

Voting for the August 18 election is underway. Thousands of voters across Miami-Dade County have received their vote-by-mail ballots already, and many have already sent them back in. If you requested a mail ballot, you can check on the status of your ballot by going to www.checkmyballot.miami

Curious about who to vote for? The Miami-Dade Democratic Party has endorsed candidates in key races around Miami-Dade County. You can see that list of endorsements at www.votefordemocrats.miami, and we will be updating that list with our full November slate after the August primary is past.

Join Vice President Biden and South Florida leaders for the 2020 Blue Gala

Next week, we’ll be holding our annual Blue Gala on July 29 and 30. The Blue Gala is the annual fundraising event that raises funds for our local Miami-Dade Democratic Party. Since we do not receive operating funds from the state or national party, we rely on our local supporters to fund us each year. Because of the success of last year’s Blue Gala, we’ve been able to run a robust, early field program (even during a pandemic) that has reached hundreds of thousands of voters in Miami-Dade through phone banking, texting, postcards, and digital ads. We have to keep the momentum going.

This year, we obviously cannot hold an in-person gala, so working with our Gala Chair, Commissioner David Richardson, we have changed the format to a virtual event. We are thrilled to say that Vice President Biden will be making an appearance at the Blue Gala, as well as many Federal, state and local officials, along with a lineup of entertainers and musicians who care about our democracy. Please tune in to watch the Blue Gala live on our Facebook page on July 29 and 30.

Do you want to sponsor the Blue Gala? Email us at bluegala@miamidadedems.org and we’ll send you the sponsorship deck. Sponsors will be recognized during the event. Thank you!

Special BYE-DON Yard Signs

Help us say bye to 45, and let everyone know your candidate! Miami-Dade Dems have yard signs for Biden – you can make a $10 contribution here to request yours. You can pick them up from us at the Senate Victory office on any Wednesday during business hours, at 4649 Ponce de Leon. You can also reach out if you’re interested in helping lead phonebanks to voters who may want one. Email Ariel Sepulveda at fielddirector@miamidadedems.org

The Voter Protection Team is Recruiting Poll Watchers

It’s not too late to sign up to one of the most critical missions we have: to ensure that every voter who intends to cast a vote, can cast a vote. The Miami-Dade Democratic Party’s Voter Protection Committee, chaired by Wayne Brody is looking for volunteers to help with this mission.

While we are encouraging as many people to vote by mail as possible, we know that many people will still choose to vote in person. We need lawyers, activists, and problem solvers to help recruit, work the polls, and troubleshoot remotely. If you are up to joining the fight to save the vote, click here to sign up.

Become a Sustaining Donor

I can’t thank all of our sustaining donors enough for stepping up and pitching in a small amount each month. These sustaining donations allow us to plan the programs that will drive up voter turnout across our county. We couldn’t run our field program or our digital program without your support.

Can you become a sustaining donor of $7$10, or $20.20 today?

We know this is a tough time for many of us right now, so please know we appreciate you staying involved in any way that you can. Thank you for all you do.

Onward,

Christopher Richmond
Executive Director
