August 11th Special Election for House 115
In a few weeks, voters on James Island, Folly Beach, Seabrook, and Kiawah will have the opportunity to flip South Carolina State House District 115. The seat was vacated when incumbent Peter McCoy (R) resigned to become the US Attorney for South Carolina. The election, which will take place on August 11th, will be between Spencer Wetmore (D), Josh Stokes (R), and Eugene Platt (G) and offers an opportunity for the Democrats to gain a seat going into the November elections.
Spencer Wetmore is a Charleston native and a lifelong Democrat. Formerly a prosecutor in the Charleston County Solicitor’s Office, she has been City Administrator of Folly Beach since 2014. She lives on Folly Beach with her husband, 2 daughters, and 2 dogs. She emerged as the Democratic nominee for both the August 11th special election and November 3rd general election after the June 23rd runoff. In 2018, the Republican incumbent won this seat by less than 3 percentage points, making it the closest loss in the 2018 State House elections. This district has been trending blue and presents an excellent opportunity to flip a seat if voters in District 115 are ready to turnout and elect Spencer!
All meetings until further notice will be conducted “virtually” using Zoom. You can connect by computer or telephone. We will continue to use MobilizeAmerica to RSVP.

NOVEMBER STARTS NOW!
Are you ready to tell Lindsey Graham to pack his bags and send Jaime Harrison to the U.S. Senate? How about helping Joe Cunningham and all the amazing candidates running for county offices and the state legislature? We will be having phone banks every day from now until November 3. We are going to identify every Democrat we possibly can so that we can turn them out to vote in November. With your help, we can do this!
CAN YOU COMMIT $10 PER MONTH UNTIL NOVEMBER?
We found more monthly donors last week, bringing us closer to our goal. A commitment of as little as $5 per month or more can make a difference. If you are already a monthly donor, please consider increasing your giving level by an extra $5 or $10. We need to find $1,790 more per month in recurring donations to build a winning campaign.
