The Ohio Scoop is your weekly political fix, filled with the most up-to-date information about Ohio Democrats and everything happening on the campaign trail here in Ohio. We’re here so you can get your political scoop, all in one place.
If you’re new to the list, welcome. You were added because you are one of Ohio Democrats’ best supporters. For those of you who are returning, welcome back.
We need to fill you in on everything that happened this week, so let’s jump right in.
The Cherry on Top
Thank you for being a part of the Ohio Dems family! Today’s edition of “The Scoop” includes a note from me, which I hope will be the cherry on top of your Friday reading. (See what I did there? )
We are 12 days away from the start of Early Vote here in Ohio — 39 days from Election Day! As we creep closer and closer to the most important ballot fight in the country in 2023, lots is happening here at Ohio Dems HQ. Across Ohio, thousands of local leaders and volunteers are knocking on doors, making calls, putting up yard signs, and so much more.
I have been spending more time each week talking to local, state, and national press to share the story about what’s at stake in this November’s election. ICYMI it, this week saw one of our boldest headlines yet – this time in one of Ohio’s best known alternative papers, the Cleveland Scene.
You can be assured that seeing a headline like this wasn’t on my bingo card for 2023. But I couldn’t be more proud. To recap:
Ohio Democrats are working 24/7 to mobilize Ohioans to Vote YES on Issue 1. We’re running a massive ground game and voter protection operation because we believe health care decisions belong to women and their families, without the interference of extreme, out-of-touch politicians.
Ohio Democrats across the state are supporting Yes on Issue 2 – the initiated statue campaign to legalize recreational marijuana. No kid deserves to go to prison because of a joint found in their pocket. More justice in this space is an important step forward to building a better Ohio.
You can’t spell A Loser with our LaRose. Frank has continued to sell every day Ohioans out in cynical pursuit of his political ambitions. The most recent proof point? Moving the Ohio Secretary of State’s Office to the same address as his US Senate campaign – costing Ohioans $600k.
With under 40 days to go, we urgently need the help of all our supporters in Ohio and across the country. To all those who have supported our work with your time and treasure: thank you. If you haven’t gotten involved, you can learn more about how you can help this week’s scoop and help us tell out-of-touch politicians at the statehouse: we won’t go back.
Yours in the fight,
Volunteer with Us!
Ohio Democrats and our volunteers across the state are fired to protect Reproductive Rights and have knocked on over 56,000 doors and made almost 70,000 calls!
We hope you can join us for at least one shift to get out the word about the upcoming election and make sure everyone has a plan to vote YES on Issue 1 by November 7th. You can sign up for a canvassing shift using our canvass calendar below.

Can’t join us on the doors? Sign up to make some calls! Ohio Democrats have pledged to make one million phone calls to voters about the November election. View our phonebank calendar and pick a few times to get on the dialer!
Finally, if you can’t join us on the doors or the phones, consider chipping in what you can in our effort to show out of touch republicans – WE WON’T GO BACK.
What Do You Get When…
… you cross two millionaires and a guy who loves wasting taxpayer dollars? The Ohio GOP Senate Primary! And we’re here to fill you in on what these hooligans have been up to recently.
Millionaire Moreno was spotted this week urging Republicans to shut down the federal government until “we finish Trump’s Wall”…
