Last year, we passed Ohio’s abortion rights amendment, but the fight isn’t over. That’s because out-of-touch Republicans continue to go to the courts to try and overturn portions of the amendment.
Abortion is once again on the ballot this November, Erica. But this time, it’s dependent on our judicial races. It’s up to the Ohio Supreme Court – where we have the chance to overturn the Republican majority – to decide on these lawsuits.
Our Republican-controlled Ohio Supreme Court recently ruled that boneless chicken can have bones. If they’re willing to do THAT, what are they willing to do to the reproductive freedom language that we enshrined in the constitution?
We need justices on the court that will make sure the amendment doesn’t become moot and is enforced how we intended. Justice Michael Donnelly, Justice Melody Stewart, and Judge Lisa Forbes will do exactly that.
That’s why Abortion Forward just endorsed them for the Ohio Supreme Court.
Friends,
We reached out last month asking about what issues were most important to you in this November’s historic election – because unlike Ohio Republicans, we actually care about what you have to say and what you’re looking for from our leaders in Washington.
Looking through the survey responses we discovered that Ohioans’ top three priorities are:
- Safeguarding voting rights
- Protecting reproductive healthcare
- Electing Ohio Democrats to Congress
Our main focus at the Ohio Democratic Party is electing Ohio Democrats up and down the ballot, so we can cross that one off the list – and luckily, we have an incredible lineup of Democrats running to address all of your top priorities.
Will you rush a $5 contribution today to power them to victory this November?
Sherrod Brown has been a steadfast advocate for reproductive rights, challenging his opponent’s calls for a national abortion ban. And as Loser Frank LaRose continues attempting slimy tactics of voter suppression, Ohio Democrats in every corner of the state are fighting back to make sure Ohioans’ voices are fairly heard at the ballot box.
We need to elect Ohio Democrats to Congress who will serve Ohioans and stop the GOP from hijacking the House and Senate for their own greedy self interests. We’ve got the candidates to tackle the issues that matter most to you.
As a rural Ohioan, I see J.D. Vance for who he is.
Growing up in Georgetown, Ohio, I learned that there are certain values you’re likely to see in most rural Ohioans.
We respect authenticity – which means we can spot a phony when we see one. We believe in the dignity of hard work – but we do know there are situations where we just need a little help, which is why we are ALWAYS willing to support our neighbors.
Donald Trump’s VP pick, Ohio Senator J.D. Vance, stands in stark contrast. He doesn’t represent the people I know from home. In a moment, I’m going to ask if you can chip in to support the Ohio Dems in this historic election year, but first, let me tell you why I am confident J.D. Vance is wrong for Ohio and wrong for the White House.
J.D. Vance’s career has been built on a phony image. His opportunism and lack of authenticity is what drove him from being a firm critic of Donald Trump to becoming one of his biggest supporters and ultimately, his VP pick. In 2016, Vance called himself a “Never Trump guy.” Of course when he ran for Senate in Ohio in 2021 and wanted Trump’s endorsement, he changed his tune. This cowardly flip-flopping is exactly the type of phony self-promotion that rural voters can see a mile away.
But he’s not just limited to flip-flopping. Vance built his political brand by shaming working-class families, sucking up to billionaires, and voting against working people every chance he got.
If there’s one thing I know for sure, it’s that J.D. Vance’s agenda doesn’t align with Ohio’s rural culture of helping one’s neighbors.
So if you are able, I hope you’ll consider donating right now to the Ohio Dems so they can stop phony J.D. Vance from seizing more power and protect the White House >>>
Thank you for taking the time.
