Blue Thursday: change of plan
We hope you’ll join us at the Hideout tonight for our monthly Blue Thursday happy hour, but we need to let you know about this change of plan: Alas, our scheduled speaker, Renato Mariotti, has had to cancel, but in his place we’ll have William Howell, professor in American politics at the University of Chicago Harris School of Public Policy. He’s director of the Center for Effective Government and has written extensively about presidents and presidential power. His work includes Presidents, Populism, and the Crisis of Democracy (with Stanford University political science Professor Terry M. Moe, 2020) and Relic: How Our Constitution Undermines Effective Government—and Why We Need a More Powerful Presidency (2016). We’ll miss seeing Renato, an old friend, but this is sure to be a lively and informative discussion. And to get it rolling we’ll have a few spoken words from Cortez Stewart, aka “Bigg Ceno,” who comes to us from The Light, Collaboraction Theater’s ensemble of young artist-actvists.
Blue Thursday is our monthly political happy hour, a chance to mix with and hear from activists, officials, and political insiders. Bar opens at 5, program starts at 6. Free and open to all, but please get details and RSVP here.
