Indivisible Georgia Coalition Alerts – Freedom From Fear

4 mins read

No matter where we live in Georgia, we should be able to live free of fear that our children and teenagers do not have easy access to guns. We should have the freedom from fear that comes with knowing that a person with a mental illness or an unexpected mental health crisis would not have easy access to a gun to cause harm to themselves. Our children deserve to go to school without fear of other students who may bring firearms to school. Sensible gun laws can contribute to our sense of freedom in our communities, workplaces, schools, and houses of worship. We deserve safe communities. The proliferation of guns has not brought us safety.

We need hearings and votes, we need a bi-partisan effort. Make your voices heard to members of the Senate Judiciary Committee for SB 33 and SB 75 and to members of the House Public Safety and Homeland Security for HB 44, 45, 135 and 161 by demanding a hearing on these crucial bills.

Action:
Contact the State Judiciary Committee for SB 33 and SB75 and the House Public Safety and Homeland Security for HB 4445135, and 161.

Suggested Script:  1. For Senators on Judiciary Committee:  Protecting Georgia citizens from gun violence should be a value espoused by all elected officials.  Protecting Georgia citizens from gun violence can be done while respecting the rights outlined in the Second Amendment. I urge you to allow a hearing on SB 33 and SB75 which, if passed, can help protect Georgia citizens against gun violence.  2.  For Representatives: Protecting Georgia citizens from gun violence should be a value espoused by all elected officials.  Protecting Georgia citizens from gun violence can be done while respecting the rights outlined in the Second Amendment. I urge you to allow a hearing on HB 44, 45, 135, and 161.
