A few extremists took our government hostage to get their way, just as extremists did on January 6, 2021.
The Pro-Putin Freedom Caucus got what it wanted from Kevin McCarthy on the second anniversary of the deadly January 6th insurrection. What’s next?
“Scott Perry (R-PA), who was a key figure in the attempt to overturn the 2020 presidential election, told CNN’s Manu Raju that among the many promises McCarthy made to get them on board was that he would not agree to raise the national debt limit without significant concessions.”
Who benefits from the America defaulting on its debt? “It’s becoming clear now: This is January 6th, Episode II. They Freedom Caucus is demanding debt default, which will spark a ~$15T global financial crisis. COVID was ~$4T. This will only help Putin and his BRICS+/GGC allies.” – Dave Troy

MAGA Extremists’ plan to kill the Government
“The extremists wanted this control because they seem to believe that if the U.S. stops funding the government, the programs they hate will die. To kill off the government built by the liberal consensus, they are threatening to do as Trump has advocated: take the government into default. That is, a few extremists are willing to take our government hostage to get their way, just as extremists did on January 6, 2021.” – Heather Richardson
What this means for you
“The U.S. economy could plunge into another recession this fall if Congress fails to lift the debt ceiling and the nation is unable to pay its obligations, according to an analysis by Moody’s Analytics chief economist Mark Zandi. The fallout would wipe out as many as 6 million jobs and erase $15 trillion in household wealth, he estimated in a report.
The debt limit is the maximum amount the U.S. is permitted to borrow to pay its debts. If the amount of government debt hits that threshold without lifting the ceiling by current mid-October deadline estimates, the U.S. would be unable to pay interest on the trillions it already owes and could default — something that has never happened in the nation’s history.
In real terms, the nation would soon return to high unemployment rates, approaching 9% compared with its current rate of 5.2%. Also, come November 1 checks for millions of Social Security recipients would be delayed, Zandi noted. And stock prices would likely plunge by one-third, sparking that $15 trillion loss in household wealth. Meantime, mortgage rates and other interest rates for things like credit cards and auto loans would spike.” – CBS News / Dave Troy
Pandering to Putin
On March 9, the House passed a bill to suspend oil and gas imports from Russia. Five of the seven Democratic leftists voted for the suspension. The two who voted against it—Bush and Omar—were joined by 15 Republicans who also voted no. In addition to Gosar and Massie, this time the list included Reps. Andy Biggs, Dan Bishop, Lauren Boebert, Madison Cawthorn, Scott DesJarlais, Matt Gaetz, Louie Gohmert, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Glenn Grothman, Clay Higgins, Bill Posey, Chip Roy, and Tom Tiffany.
Meanwhile, 10 Republicans have signed on to a bill that would bar any delivery of military aid to Ukraine …” The cosponsors include Reps. Bob Good, Jody Hice, Mary Miller, Ralph Norman, and Randy Weber.
The Democratic left supports sanctions and military aid, while a significant bloc of Republicans is trying to obstruct American intervention. Some of these Republicans see themselves as an antiwar caucus… But what they’re preaching isn’t pacifism. It’s nihilism, cynicism, cowardice, partisan derangement, and a loathing of contemporary America. – The Bulwark
