Political human trafficking

Political human trafficking. Republicans treat migrants as political pawns.

DeSantis records human trafficking political stunt for FOX TV with $12 million of Florida tax payer funds.

DeSantis pulled off the stunt. He lured a couple dozen immigrants onto a pair of planes and flew them to Martha’s Vineyard, where he deposited them onto an unprepared island. He then handed the story to Fox News, a network that has coordinated closely with him and predictably gloated over his latest triumph.

Made for FOX moment

DeSantis has produced another made-for-Fox moment: He is taking credit for delivering two planeloads of migrants to Martha’s Vineyard, where locals are scrambling to meet their needs. DeSantis’s staff apparently supplied exclusive video of these heroics to Fox. The DeSantis administration appears to have deliberately orchestrated this event for maximum cruelty and confusion. It’s unclear why a Florida governor is flying migrants from Texas to Massachusetts.” – Washington Post

Political stunt: Republicans Are Trafficking Human Beings for Political Points

To acquire the bait for his stunt, DeSantis apparently deployed staff into Texas to mislead the targets. “The migrants said a woman they identified as ‘Perla’ approached them outside the shelter and lured them into boarding the plane, saying they would be flown to Boston where they could get expedited work papers,” reports NPR.

“Shame on you, Governor Abbott. Shame on you Governor DeSantis. These political stunts have no role in American politics. It’s something that’s being done for the midterm elections. That’s what all of this is about,” said Domingo Garcia, the National President of the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC). – ABC7

GOP targets Venezuelan and Cuban migrants

“It’s shameful that instead of welcoming Venezuelans to the state with the largest Venezuelan diaspora in the U.S. @GovRonDeSantis chose to lure vulnerable migrants like a human trafficker & lie about where they were going to score political points with Trump’s MAGA base.” – Twitter

Kidnapping accusation

Governor Gavin Newsom responding by asking the Department of Justice to consider kidnapping charges, saying in part, “several of the individuals who were transported to Martha’s Vineyard have alleged that a recruiter induced them to accept the offer of travel based on false representations that they would be transported to Boston and would be receive expedited access to work authorization.” Newsom called DeSantis and Abbott’s actions inhumane efforts to use kids as political pawns. – ABC7

Repulsive stunt made for Fox News

“This marketing also resonates in the world that Trump created on Fox News, where the most valuable currency of all is a willingness to employ maximal tactics, to fight, against whomever is designated the enemy at any given moment.

For people receiving the migrants, that posturing is reprehensible. “There is nothing tough about using vulnerable women and children for political gain,” Massachusetts state Rep. Dylan Fernandes told me. “DeSantis is a coward.”

To most people, this use of migrants might seem like a cruel stunt. But on Fox News — and, importantly, among GOP elites seeking their next standard bearer — it will have very powerful appeal.” – WaPo

How to use the Political Human Trafficking map

Biden stands up for American values

“There are core values that should bring us together as Americans,” Biden said, “And one of them is standing together against hate, racism, bigotry, and violence that have long haunted and plagued our nation.” “In the last few years, it’s been given much too much oxygen in our politics, in our media, and on the Internet; too much hate—all for power and profit.

The vast majority of Americans are overwhelmingly united against such violence,” he said. “The vast majority of us believe in honesty, decency, and respect for others, patriotism, liberty, justice for all, hope, and possibilities.” – Heather Cox Richardson

TakeAway: Vote Democrat for honesty, decency, and respect for others, patriotism, liberty and justice for all.
