Friends,

The Ohio Scoop is your weekly campaign fix, filled with the most up-to-date information about Ohio Democrats and everything happening on the campaign trail here in Ohio. We’re here so you can get your political scoop, all in one place.

If you’re new to the list, welcome. You were added because you are one of Ohio Democrats’ best supporters. For those of you who are returning, welcome back.

We had a busy week on the campaign trail, so let’s jump right in.

Ohio Democrats Launch NEW WEBSITE

Ohio Democrats are committed to updating our playbook and rebuilding for the future, and that includes a new website, branding, and digital strategy. Our new website is a one-stop-shop to learn about our party leadership, our candidates, and how to volunteer and vote.

Give our new website a look and let us know what you think.

Breaking: Mitch McConnell pumps $28M into Ohio

A political action committee with ties to Mitch McConnell just announced plans to reserve $28M of TV and radio ads – all hitting Ohio’s airwaves shortly after Labor Day.

JD’s broke and failing campaign has caught the eye (and probably ire) of one Mitch McConnell. He knows he can’t become Senate Majority Leader without a Vance win. So now he has to pump tens of millions of dollars into Ohio to right the ship.

That must be why Senate Republicans are SLASHING ad budgets in states like Pennsylvania, Arizona, and Wisconsin. They have to spend the money here, to stem the bleeding.

Mitch can’t be happy that Tim Ryan is beating expectations and running a near perfect campaign. You love to see it.

Now’s the time to stick it to Mitch. Click here to help make Mitch McConnell’s day a little worse.

New Nan Ad Alert

Nan Whaley launched her second round of General Election TV ads this week.

Adding” and “Math,” highlight Nan’s working class roots.

Nan understands the needs, wants, and dreams of Ohio’s middle class. She’s one of us.

Help us keep these TV ads on the air.

Extremist Ron DeSantis is Coming to Ohio

Turning Point Action, a pro-Trump extremist organization founded by Charlie Kirk, is holding a rally in Youngstown today for JD Vance. The event has made national headlines because of the unusual media policy requiring journalists to turn over footage and content to TPA.

JD can’t help but say stupid s&^t when he’s on camera. See exhibit A and exhibit B. No wonder DeSantis and TPA don’t want journalists to be able to report the truth from the event. Odds are, it won’t be great for JD.

We all know Ron DeSantis is wildly dangerous. JD is just as bad, if not worse. They’re just two peas in a really f$^&$d up MAGA pod.

& Then There Was…One?

Frank LaRose sold his soul to Donald Trump. Frank used to claim to be a moderate. You know, a Republican, but not one of them.

Boy, have the times changed.

This week, Frank LaRose announced that exactly one person may have illegally voted in Ohio. That represents 0.00000012% of all registered voters in our great state. But to hear Frank LaRose talk about it, election fraud is one of the biggest issues facing our country.

In February, LaRose tweeted: “Here they go again. Mainstream media trying to minimize voter fraud to suit their narrative. The Hill uses a press release from my office to falsely claim ‘“there’s nothing to see here – move along.’” WRONG!”

It’s yet another example of LaRose knowing better, but playing up to the MAGA Republican crowd so he can run against Sherrod Brown in two years.

Biden Delivers Again

This week, President Biden signed the Inflation Reduction Act, a BFD as it pertains to healthcare and climate change. With the help of Sherrod Brown, Tim Ryan, and our Democrats in Congress, President Biden is coming off of one his best weeks in the White House.  Democrats are delivering for Ohio families and we have to keep the momenTIM going to elect Tim Ryan, Nan Whaley and Democrats across the state. Thanks, Joe Biden (and Sherrod, and Tim, and Marcy, and Joyce, and Shontel).

Come Party with the State Party

The Ohio Democratic Party is throwing a party in Columbus on September 24th, and we can’t celebrate without you.

No one likes a four hour, rubber chicken dinner.  And that’s not what we’re planning. Instead, we will gather for a fun and entertaining afternoon to celebrate Ohio Democrats and hear from our party leaders. Get your tickets here.

Until Next Week

Summer is almost over and time is ticking for us to win this November.

We have a lot of work to do to get more field organizers on the ground in every corner of the state. We have offices to open, phones banks to hold, canvasses to launch, and of course – thousands of unregistered Democrats to register by Election Day. To do this, we need your help and we need it now. Please consider contributing as much as you can to help build the infrastructure needed to win.

If you’re unsure about how much you can still contribute to help us win in November and beyond, simply reply to this email. My team will respond with what you can still do to help us grow the team.

As always, thank you for standing with us. We are so grateful for your incredible support.

I hope to see you out on the campaign trail,
