… and more! Bring your friends, family, pets and a picnic blanket.

Point Day commemorates the birthday of Alfred Caldwell, the landscape architect who designed the Point in the Prairie Style.
In 1937-38, the existing limestone step-stone revetment was constructed as a WPA project that paved the entire Chicago lakefront with limestone blocks. The Point hosts the only remaining section of the original WPA limestone revetment.
The limestone at the Point is again under threat by the city’s plan to demolish it and replace it with concrete–a plan that is more expensive, less aesthetically pleasing, less environmentally sound, and less durable than a true preservation approach. We know that most of the existing limestone can be repaired and retained. #SaveThePointAgain
