Tell President Biden to protect asylum-seekers by ending Title 42
This week’s action is urgent since Dr. Walensky said the CDC will complete a new review of Title 42 by March 30 (today!) to decide whether to end it entirely.
Here’s some background on Title 42 from the national Indivisible group:
“A provision of Title 42, a U.S. public health law, is being baselessly used to prevent most asylum-seekers from seeking safety at our southern border – even as tourists and shoppers can now cross the border freely. Originally put in place by the Trump administration to block refugees at the border, the Title 42 policy continues to be renewed against the recommendations of medical and public health experts. In mid March, the order was revised to start allowing some children in, but it’s time to end Title 42 for everyone.
In the last few weeks, Ukrainians have joined the many other nationalities to be blocked by this outdated law. While the Border Patrol is now making individualized exceptions for some Ukranians, seeking asylum is a legal form of entry, and all asylum-seekers deserve to be able to access safety under both international and American law.
We know President Biden believes in humane and compassionate treatment for the most vulnerable, including those fleeing for their lives. On the two year anniversary of Title 42 being instated, it’s time for the President to update his Administration’s policies to match his values. It’s time for President Biden to end Title 42.”

The CDC will complete a review of Title 42 by today, March 30. This will determine whether the public health law will still be used as a political tool to expel asylum-seekers. Call the White House comment line and tell President Biden to end Title 42 completely.
Tell President Biden: Protect Asylum-Seekers- End Title 42
A provision of Title 42, a U.S. public health law, is being baselessly used to prevent most asylum-seekers from seeking safety at our southern border – even as tourists and shoppers can now cross the border freely. According to the ACLU, “since March 2020, the government has misused the order to kick out people seeking asylum more than 1.7 million times.”
Dr. Walensky said the CDC will complete a new review of Title 42 by March 30 (today!) to decide whether to end it entirely. We need President Biden to use his authority to end Title 42 and stop using it as a political tool to expel asylum-seekers.
