Redistricting Update

The MICRC (Michigan Independent Citizen’s Redistricting Commission) will be voting on December 30th to adopt the final maps from among the drafts now proposed. No more changes will be made to any maps, so at this stage it is all about getting the best map adopted that we can.

Senate Maps

  • Linden and Cherry – Both these maps get Green dots! Mention in comments that the map is overall the least biased and would be a fair map for the state. Beyond that feel free to specify what makes a district fair, whether it’s yours or a nearby one.
  • Palm – This is a Republican Gerrymander and should receive nothing but RED DOTS. Comment about the lack of fairness present in this map and how biased it is overall. Leave your criticism and negative comments here.

House Maps

Hickory – Green dots on Hickory only. All 3 maps are very similar, but Hickory was the best of the lot. Focus all positive comments here and talk about the overall low bias and fairness of the map and your individual districts. After further analysis, we may be provided with direction about the other 2 maps.

Three final days for public comments – coming up, but not scheduled.

All will be out of our area – but with a zoom option. We will send along the details, once they are scheduled. We need people to sign up to give testimony on the maps we are supporting and opposing.

Let’s thank Big Gretch!

Both signs are $10 each. We have them in our office. Whitmer signs have same message on both sides. Democrats believe has Democrats Serve the People on the back.

We encourage you to join the Rural Caucus of the MDP. Our goal is 2,000 members and there is no cost to join! Each monthly meeting features a great speaker to learn from. Together, rural Democrats across the state can make THE difference in our statewide elections! Join now!
