Rep. Mike Levin’s Letter to Constituents Regarding Liz Cheney

You may have seen that Rep. Liz Cheney is reportedly being ousted from her party leadership role for refusing to endorse former President Trump’s outright lies about election fraud. Kevin McCarthy has supposedly “had it with her.”

During my time in Congress, I have disagreed with Rep. Cheney on many issues. We both sit on the House Natural Resources Committee, where we regularly have diametrically opposed positions. That said, I have tremendous respect for her willingness to tell the truth and stand against the Big Lie being promoted by Trump and his Republican acolytes.

Unfortunately, it seems there is a new policy being embraced by today’s Republican Party: “if you speak the truth about the 2020 election or January 6th, you will suffer the consequences.”

No matter how they spin it, Republicans in Congress spurred on and did nothing about armed insurrectionists storming the US Capitol. Allowing today’s GOP to control the House majority would be a disaster.
