What’s going on now and what’s to come? We’re co-hosting a filibuster seminar in about two weeks that we’re very excited about. Also, things are heating up in the Central Valley. We need to register thousands of voters to reclaim Congressional seats and then mobilize those voters later. We’ll be working with local groups in the valley to empower citizens. In the short term, there’s a voter registration training coming up as well as a fundraiser for Josh Harder.

Finally, we’re making calls to turn out Democratic voters for a special congressional election in Texas.

Seminar: Want Progress? Nix the Fillibuster

Thursday, May 6th 6:00 PM Pacific

What’s between us and real progress? Republicans who have used the levers of law and politics to retain political power by stacking the courts, disenfranchising voters, and gerrymandering state and federal districts. The Senate filibuster is one last tool they use to impede progressive legislation.

Join Swing Left Peninsula and friends for a Zoom presentation with Professors Sonja Jacobi and Matthew Sag. We’ll learn about Republican anti-democratic tactics and the best counter strategies for advancing progressive agendas across the country. Our presenters have worked and published extensively on American law and politics and bring a unique international perspective as Australian nationals.

RSVP: May 6th 6:00pm PT
