Even though we defeated Trump in 2020, Trumpism isn’t dead. It’s alive and well in Miami-Dade County, where one of Donald Trump’s biggest fans is running for local office.
Vincent Medel is running for Miami Springs City Council. He’s the leader of the Miami Springs Republican Club, and he has ties to far-right groups. Just before the election, he posted a picture on Facebook promoting the Proud Boys, which have been designated a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center:
And there’s more! On January 6, Vincent Medel was at the site of the deadly insurrection incited by Donald Trump to overturn the 2020 election. Just the day before, Medel posted a picture of himself outside his home with a suitcase and the ominous caption, “The moment of glory is near.”
Vincent Medel is dangerous, and we have to stop him from winning a seat on the Miami Springs City Council. Thankfully, we have a strong, dedicated Democrat running against him!
The Miami-Dade DEC has proudly endorsed Dr. Victor Vazquez in this race. Dr. Vazquez is a union leader and veteran of the United States Air Force with extensive experience in community engagement. He’s running to make sure that local government works for the residents of Miami Springs.
This is a race with big stakes, and we have three ways that you can help:
With your help, on April 6th we can beat Trumpism and put a true-blue Democrat in office!

Even $5 a month makes a big difference. The local Miami-Dade Democratic Party is a self-funded, membership-driven organization of dedicated volunteers.Republican leadership has been a disaster for our state, and for our nation. In 2022 we will break the Republican stranglehold on Tallahassee by kicking Ron DeSantis out of office. While we’re at it, we’ll get Marco Rubio, one of Donald Trump’s biggest enablers, out of office and send a Democrat to represent us in the United States Senate instead. We can’t do that without you—support our work with a monthly donation of any amount here.
