The Inauguration
On January 20, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris were sworn into office. (Just take a moment to breathe that in…) While the future of our country is uncertain, the new president and vice president are the right people at the right time to navigate the problems we face as a nation and to return a sense of decorum, professionalism, leadership, and much-needed normalcy to our federal government. One of the highlights of the inauguration ceremony was poet and activist Amanda Gorman who so eloquently captured this moment in history with her poem “The Hill We Climb.” Click on the image above to listen.

Shelter Volunteers Needed
As the winter cold grinds on, homelessness persists despite the hard work being done to get people housed. It’s especially hard to get enough volunteers now due to the COVID risk, but the need is great. Volunteers are needed for a daytime and nighttime shelter as well as folks willing to prepare lunch, dinner, and donate snacks. The shelter is at Calvary Methodist Church (1415 Miller Ave) during the month of February. To keep people off the streets during cold weather and COVID, please sign up for a shift or donation.
