Fact-Checking the Final Presidential Debate

In the final debate, Trump again unleashed a successive series of false, misleading, and exaggerated statements as he sought to distort former Vice President Joseph R. Biden’s record and positions to boost his own re-election hopes. The president once again relied heavily on well-worn talking points that have long been shown to be false.

No evidence for Trump claim that Joe Biden earned money in China, according to the Wall Street Journal, contradicting its editorial section

At Thursday night’s debate, President Trump repeatedly asserted that Biden was involved in his son Hunter’s business dealings, specifically accusing him of taking money from China — a charge found to be false upon review of multiple records by The Wall Street Journal and made the same week it was revealed Trump himself had secretly maintained a bank account in the country.

Unemployment benefits: Racial disparity in jobless aid grows as Congress stalls on COVID-19 stimulus

Trump asserted in the final presidential debate that his administration recorded the “best Black unemployment numbers in the history of our country.” The jobless rate for Black workers dropped to a record low of 5.4% in August 2019 and the worst global pandemic in a century has undone years of gains, chipping away at a longstanding gap between the jobless benefits received by Black Americans and white Americans.

More than 700 leading economists, including seven Nobel Prize winners, urge US voters to reject Donald Trump, a ‘selfish and reckless’ president

In the letter, they wrote that Trump’s “selfish and reckless behavior” has weakened the economy. “He has a poorly-informed, zero-sum view of economics that engenders needless viciousness and cruelty,” the economists wrote, and they describe Trump’s actions at the White House as a “sustained assault” on democracy.

In most states, wearing political statements to the polls will disqualify you from voting. With voter suppression rampant all over the country, the definition of “political statement” can be conveniently altered. It’s just not worth testing the waters – wear something neutral. You can change back into your Biden Harris shirt at home.
