It’s time to make a change in America

2 mins read

Hi. It’s Gretchen Whitmer here (or as Trump calls me, “that woman from Michigan”).

I don’t have to tell you this, but the stakes in these elections couldn’t be higher.

Here in my state, Michigan, they’re saying our votes could decide the White House, the Senate, and Nancy Pelosi’s speakership. But we’re also just four seats away from flipping the Michigan House and wiping away the GOP’s majority.

So much progress is possible if we win these critical legislative races – in my state and yours – which is why I’m asking you to do everything you can to help me elect transformative Democrats this fall. We need all hands on deck.

The people of Michigan delivered a clear message when we flipped the governor’s mansion blue and took redistricting power away from right-wing legislators in 2018. Yet even in the midst of a pandemic, Republicans have failed to put their partisan attacks aside.

The president of the United States has launched personal attacks against me and tried to sabotage our state’s successful efforts to get the virus under control – all while the Republican-controlled legislature has obstructed progress across the state.

Now, Trump’s allies are trying to recall me from office, while Republican lawmakers try to strip away my powers to protect Michigan during an emergency. This political grandstanding is unacceptable and wrong – full stop.

It’s time to make a change in America, and we only have a short time left to make our impact felt. That’s why I’m reaching out to you today, and I hope you’ll join me.
