Environmental Voter Project
Monday, August 10
EVP focuses on voters, not candidates. Why? Because politicians follow the votes. EVP has identified tens of millions of environmentalists across the country who don’t vote as often as they should. This action is aimed at reaching them. Join Shannon Seigal, EVP’s Organizing Director, and learn more about this campaign and how to participate in the phone bank. Sign up here!
Want more calling opportunities? Check out our Make Calls page.
Wednesday, August 12
Peer-to-peer texting (aka textbanking) is a fun, flexible, innovative way to reach voters (and voters-to-be!) all over the country from the comfort and safety of your couch. Join us for BootCamp2020: Textbanking 101 for an introduction to the what, why and how of texting out the vote! If time and opportunity permits, we’ll do some live texting so you can see it in action, and we’ll allow plenty of time for questions! Sign up here!
Join us on Slack, the texting communication tool, here.
Voter Assistance Hotline
Training with PA Dems
Monday, August 10
The PA Dems voter protection team is running a training for voter assistance hotlines to answer voters’ questions about voting by mail, registration, polling locations and other issues. This hotline has been a lifeline for many voters. In Pennsylvania, the volunteer-staffed hotline fielded over 5,700 voter calls from April 1st to June 15th. Join other Vermonters on the PA team! Sign up here.
Visit our Voter Protection page to learn more. If you are ready to jump in, you can find out how to get started now!
So I went to the post office….
to buy stamps this morning. When I told the clerk I wanted 500 postcard stamps, she jokingly said, “Oh my…what did Trump do this morning to cause all you ladies to come in and buy up all my postcard stamps?!? —Roxanne, Reclaim Our Vote
We are writing postcards to encourage Texas voters of color to vote early and avoid long lines on Election Day. We’re also giving them a phone number to call or text to find their polling location. THESE POSTCARDS WILL BE WRITTEN NOW BUT HELD FOR MAILING BETWEEN 9/1 AND 9/5 (when the most up-to-date information is made available).Sign up here.
And stay tuned for more postcards to purged voters and to let voters know about early voting–all through September, then we’ll taper off in early October. Make sure you have your next activist project lined up!
Attend BootCamp 2020 to learn more about phone banking and texting: www.leanleftvt.org/bootcamp
Take the trainings and then join us at the Cafe for a working session with other activists.

Meet Mokah Jasmine Johnson,
Candidate for Georgia State Legislature District 117
Mokah is a working class mom, a racial justice activist, and an educator, exactly the type of leader we need for this moment. However, running for office is especially difficult for people like her, who don’t have a network of political connections and wealthy donors to support her campaign. That’s why it means so much to see small dollar donations coming in from Lean Left Vermont. In a race like this, every dollar makes a difference. Watch a thank you from Mokah.
