On this week’s Project Censored Show, Mickey Huff and Nolan Higdon discuss the topic of fake news and how it relates to Higdon’s forthcoming book, “The Anatomy of Fake News: A Critical News Literacy Education.” The discussion includes a look at the long history of fake news, as well as Higdon’s proposed fake news detection kit and the importance of critical media literacy education.

Nolan Higdon teaches history and media studies at California State University, East Bay, and is a frequent contributor to the annual Project Censored books. He and Mickey Huff are the authors of the recent City Lights book “United States of Distraction: Media Manipulation in Post-Truth America (and what we can do about it) and was one of the writers/directors of the recent Project Censored documentary, “United States of Distraction: Fighting the Fake News Invasion.”
