The June Fundraising Numbers Are In And …

I’ve got some good news for you.

The reason why I like fundraising numbers better than polls, is that when people put their money where their mouth is, they are definitely going to vote. Any time a voter takes a concrete action towards the result they want, they are so much more likely to then go out and vote.

This is only one of many reasons why I like to write about the many ways we can each get involved. But I digress.

First, I saw the news that ActBlue collected an astounding $392 million in donations for candidates and causes. To say that that is a sign of massive enthusiasm and activism on the left is an understatement. Politico reported that June’s total “smashed the previous monthly high, from just before the 2018 election, by a whopping 50 percent.”

Then, I saw that Trump had a fantastic month, pulling in $131 million in donations. (That number is a combination of Trump campaign’s and the RNC’s efforts, as is customary for presidential reporting.) It was his biggest cash haul of the year, all the more notable as his polls continue to sink.

But what about Biden? How did he do?

I’m delighted to report that for the second month in a row, Biden (combined with the DNC) beat Trump, pulling in $141 million in donations! Biden’s strategy of holding online, virtual fundraisers with Democratic stars like President Obama, Elizabeth Warren, and Kamala Harris along with the more traditional methods of fundraising through emails, etc. sure seems to be working.

Like I said at the beginning, I really do like fundraising numbers.
