President Obama just set the tone for one of the most important elections in our lifetimes.
At a virtual event with Joe Biden just a few days ago, he warned more than 175,000 grassroots Democrats that “we can’t be complacent or smug.” He reminded us that “just because this energy is out there does not mean that it assures our victory.”
Then, President Obama called upon every American to act: With the country’s future hanging in the balance in this election, he declared that “help is on the way if we do the work,” but “this is serious business. Whatever you’ve done so far is not enough.”
As someone who served from the statehouse to the White House, President Obama has proven again and again the incredible progress we can make when Democrats fight for our future at every level of the ballot. This moment couldn’t be more crucial.
President Obama laid out the daunting challenge Democrats face. Not only will we be tasked with unseating an incumbent president, but Republicans wield a massive war chest and a propaganda network that attacks “the very foundations of who we are and who we should be.”
But help IS on the way. After flipping more than 450 seats from red to blue, grassroots supporters have helped send Democrats to unimaginable wins in the Trump era – and if we put in the work from now until November, we’ll transform this nation forever.
