Congratulations to Women Running for Congress
With Ohio’s primary election now complete, we look forward to the general election in November. Congrats to all of the Democratic women who won their primaries, and thank you to everyone who ran! Running for office is itself a public service.
Ohio Democrats have a wealth of great women candidates to support — including 11 of our 15 candidates for Congress! Here are just a few:
State Rep. Allison Russo Calls for Reopening Plans to Include Child Care
Ohio Democrats are calling for a responsible restart to Ohio, and state Rep. Allison Russo wants child care to be considered in reopening plans. As more and more people return to their workplaces, most day care facilities remain closed. Parents, especially mothers, will be forced to make an impossible choice between staying home with their children versus earning a paycheck.
Russo is calling for Gov. Mike DeWine to develop a taskforce to tackle this issue, so that child care facilities can be accessible as well as safe.
“This cannot be an afterthought for Ohio’s children and for the working parents,” said Rep. Russo. “We can’t count on the flexibility of employers because that won’t be the case for all workers.”

Show Appreciation for Frontline Workers
Nurses are on the frontlines of the coronavirus pandemic, and they are fighting to keep Ohioans healthy. On National Nurses Day, we say thank you to all the nurses who are doing critical work now and always.
Nurses have been working to save lives without necessary personal protective equipment, forcing some folks to make PPE themselves. This is unacceptable for those who are already risking their lives. Share this story with your friends and family:
This week we also celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week and acknowledge the dedication of Ohio’s educators.
