Florida: Tomorrow’s election

We are confident that County Supervisors have taken the measures needed to ensure safe elections for those who turn up, but voters are still waiting on Governor DeSantis to provide an updated list of polling site closures and changes.

In absence of that list, the Florida Democratic Party began reaching out to Supervisors of Elections. We have been able to contact 58 of the 67 County Supervisors offices and they have communicated 91 precincts that have been closed or relocated as a result of the Governor’s call to close certain sites to protect at risk populations.

Our data team has identified 126,731 voters — who have not yet voted — who live in an affected precinct. We have begun texting and calling these voters and encouraging them to call their Supervisor of Elections to confirm their polling place in advance of tomorrow’s election.

Florida Democrats understand the confluence of events that led to the closures just days before our election. We want to be good partners and help get the word out, but we need the State Department of Elections and the Governor to uphold their responsibility to our Democracy and release information of polling site re-locations so that the Florida Democratic Party, our 100+ staff and thousands of volunteers can help communicate these changes to voters.

There is still time for Governor DeSantis to do the right thing and provide voters with an official updated list of polling site closures and re-locations — we urge him to do so.

Florida Democrats believe in effective and efficient government that prioritizes quality education, affordable health care, and an economy in which anyone who works hard can succeed.

Most importantly, we believe that we are stronger together. We believe the fundamental American promise — that you can go as far as your own hard work will take you — should shine brightest in Florida.

That is why we champion the middle class and cherish the principle that all Floridians should have the opportunity to work hard and succeed. That is why we will never stop fighting for better public schools, because education is the surest path to a better life for millions.

From standing for affordable health care and better schools to fighting for civil rights and access to the ballot box, Florida Democrats are leading every day to move our state forward.
