Utah GOP undermining the will of the voters. Again.

In a purely partisan power grab, GOP lawmakers are undermining your vote…AGAIN!

Better Boundaries said in an email so supporters:

Without a prohibition on partisan gerrymandering, Utah’s politicians appear dead set on repealing Prop 4, and leave the door open for special interests, political parties, and out of state consultants to determine who represents YOU on Capitol Hill.

In 2018, over half-a-million Utahns voted to take politics out of redistricting, but GOP leaders are refusing to give up their power to gerrymander. Instead, they want the commission to serve as little more than a kangaroo court, giving them political cover but lacking any teeth, standards or substance to ensure your vote is protected.

After the public backlash surrounding tax reform and the repeal of Prop 2 and 3, some lawmakers are wary of going against the public – and just today, a poll came out showing 62% of Utahns feel the legislature doesn’t listen to voters!

We need to make sure the Legislature hears our voices – all half-a-million of them. They can not be allowed to rush this bill through the final weeks of the legislative session without hearing our outrage in response.

If the Utah GOP succeeds in undong this ballot initiative, it would be the 3rd one that has undone the will of the people. Lawmakers rewrote Proposition 2 on medical cannabis, Proposition 3 on Medicaid Expansion. They also had to pull the local version of the Tax Scam when activists collected enough signatures to get it on the ballot.

What can YOU do? For starters, contact both your State House and State Senate Representative.

Second, show up at the State Capitol Thursday at noon. We must make a strong showing and put our Legislatures on notice that this is still OUR House.
