This week our Utah Congressman, Ben McAdams and John Curtis showed us that true bipartisanship can happen when doing the right thing is on the line.
They chose people and principle over party and politics because equality is ALWAYS the right choice. We need to ask our Utah lawmakers to be brave and do the same.

Re: Please Support HJR007 – Utah Ratification of the ERA
Dear (name of legislator),
“Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of sex.” This idea was created in 1923 by American suffragist Alice Paul, who used Utah’s long standing state constitutional language to pen the amendment.
After 49 years and tireless advocacy, Alice Paul’s Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) finally gained passage in Congress in 1972 with the strong bi-partisan support and the support of President Richard Nixon. The ERA has recently seen new life, with three more states ratifying the ERA, completing the constitutional requirement of at least 38 states needed for the ERA to become part of the Constitution.
With 38 states on board, the legal wheels are now set in motion to finish the job. Utah and the 10 other unratified states can help in this legal effort by adding their ratifications to the tally of states that support equality. 8 of those 10 states currently have bills in motion in their 2020 legislative session.
The ERA is as relevant to American women today as it was nearly 100 years ago. The ERA guarantees equality for women under the law and protects women from gender discrimination. The ERA is relevant to Utah and can send a message to the rest of the country that THIS is the place for women and equality!
Join the 94% of Americans and 71% of Utahns as well as over 30 local Utah organizations advocating for Utah to ratify the ERA. Utah can play an instrumental role in achieving constitutionally guaranteed equality for all in the United States.
Equal means equal.
